On Friday I had the privilege of being apart of a live studio audience for the Marilyn Denis show (shout out to Kristy). The show is filmed in Toronto, and has been on the air since January 2011. Marilyn’s show is a mix of lifestyle and entertainment segments featuring experts and celebrity guests.

For this particular show, stylish wardrobe revamping was one of the main segments, and for today’s post I want to share what I learned.

From Friday’s show, I saw first hand how simple it is to revamp what you already have in your closet with a few simple accessories. I’m going to share with you two of my favourite looks from the show, and how I would incorporate them into my wardrobe to fit my lifestyle.

Look # 1 — Stretch Knit Dress

Stretch Knit Dress

Most of us have this dress or a version of it. On the show this dress was paired with a funky necklace, a long overcoat, and heels. To top it off they added a trendy bag with a black and white pattern. Although very cute, not something that I would find myself wearing on a Saturday morning trip to the market. While still keeping in the spirit of revamping the look, here are a few things I would try.

The purse still adds a pop of colour, and the fringe is very in right now, but it’s not so distracting that it would take away from the simplicity and cut of the dress. The necklace compliments the strap of the purse, and in my opinion, really pulls the look together.

Look # 2 — Sportswear

tights

I don’t go a day without seeing paparazzi shots on social media of celebs looking on point in their sportswear. From Gigi Hadid to Selena Gomez, the spectrum runs wide. A sports bra, runners, and leggings complete the look. We all have those tights that we only wear to yoga class. So on the show, the tights you see above from Fellow Citizens were used to display how you can brighten up the look with funky prints & wear them to more places than just the gym.

What I would add to the look? Check it out.

If you want to watch the episode, and see if you can catch a glimpse of us in the audience, you can do so here. To find all the pieces I paired with looks 1 & 2 check out my Pinterest Board “My Style & Beauty”.  As for the tights, you can find them here.

I hope you enjoyed this wardrobe revamp. Tell me your style secrets or what accessories you would pair to suit your unique lifestyle in the comments below.

Yours truly,

Melissa Alyse
