This past week I visited Las Vegas, Nevada for a convention with work. I am a big believer in the philosophy “work hard, play hard”. It’s all about balance in this beautiful life I have styled, so naturally, we explored the nightlife.

As you can imagine, I have so much that I want to share because during the 4 days of convention I learned SO. MUCH. But I wanted to come back home and really dig in deeper to everything I’ve learned before I share it with all of you.

So I’m just going to jump right into some of the fun we had. Let me start by explaining what I mean by the Verbena experience. The Verbena is a secret drink item that you can order at the “secret” Chandelier Bar located in The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas. The Cosmopolitan is filled with chandeliers, so you just have to find the one that has an entrance behind it and take the staircase down to floor 1 1/2. Yes, I did feel like Harry Potter heading to Platform 9 3/4.

The Chandelier Bar

Once you order the drink, the bartender will instruct you to eat the flower in its entirety, then take a big sip of your drink. You will then be told that, “the sensation will last for 5-7 minutes”. At this point during the Verbena Experience my friend and I were very unsure of what we had gotten ourselves into.

However, we took our drinks to a little couch in the bar, and proceeded to consume the Verbena flower. At first I didn’t really notice anything, then all of a sudden my tongue, mouth, and lips began to tingle. I took a sip of the drink and it felt like my taste buds had been amplified. Which is exactly what it’s supposed to do. But I kept drinking more and more thinking it would help to calm down my senses. FYI it just made it tingle more! Needless to say it felt like the longest 5-7 minutes of my life. But it was still so funny to sit across from your friend and watch them go through the same thing. I’m sure onlookers thought our faces were priceless.

Naturally, we told everyone about it and insisted that our friends try it a few nights later. Can’t keep a secret about a “good” thing ;). But seriously, all joking aside it was a pretty funny experience and if you’re into having your taste buds amplified I would highly recommend it.

Yours truly,

Melissa Alyse

P.S. Their Pineapple drinks are also bomb & come in the cutest glasses. Note: the glasses are extremely heavy.
