Last year at this time I was exploring a beach well known to the locals in the northern part of Spain. Even though we were falling in love with the beauty of another country, my sister and I still couldn’t help but celebrate our home country’s birthday.

This year on Canada Day I am back on Canadian soil. Instead of exploring a beach in Spain, I am exploring the Kawarthas with family and friends.

We are just so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of Ontario. The Kawarthas are home to some beautiful lakes and breathtaking scenery.

When a friend asked if I wanted to do a special photoshoot just for Canada Day I couldn’t resist. A few of us headed down to Millennium Park in Peterborough, Ontario and showed off our love for our country.

I love getting to share these fun moments with friends and I am so thankful that I get to spend this long weekend with them. From cottages to backyard parties, we will be celebrating Canada in a big way.

What are you doing this weekend to celebrate your country? Tell me in the comments below.

Yours truly,

Melissa Alyse
