But in all seriousness, I get it. Some things at the gym just aren’t as enjoyable as others. Working on your entire body in isolated chunks, can be interesting. Especially if you’re like me and you are just starting to realize the importance of training all the different parts of your body. I know, I know  most of you already knew cardio just isn’t enough but I’m still a bit new on the scene.

Since I admittedly am not a fitness expert, I enlisted the help of a friend– Brittany Barbisan. She was kind enough to show me some awesome leg day moves. Brittany is a Body Attack Instructor at Goodlife and lover of all things fitness. She has had an amazing personal fitness journey and I am so grateful that she took some time out of her day to help me out with this!

Brittany showed me several moves but we picked our top three favourites to share with y’all. Here they are:

1. The Squat

This move is as classic as the Elle Woods Bend & Snap! With your feet shoulder width apart you squat down as low as you can go and come back up squeezing your glutes. Squats are great for building leg muscle; including your quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves. And I mean, if you’re laughing while you do them that’s good for your core too right?

2. Backwards Stepping Lunge with a Knee Kick

This lunge one is one of my favourites because of the added knee kick. It takes the traditional lunge to a new level and works your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, calves and core muscles. When you’re doing these try to keep your balance by tightening your core.

3. Kettle Bell Swing

Want more out of your leg day? Try the Kettle Bell Swing. By adding in the weight and arm movement you are not only tightening and toning your legs you are also working your arms. I could feel this move working almost right away.

So next time it’s leg day, try out these moves! The only equipment you need is a 10 pound weight for move number 3 and you’re good to go. No gym necessary. We hope you have enjoyed these simple yet effective moves. Let us know in the comments below what you do on your leg day!
